The Gates of Hell

Personal piece. I am unusually proud of this piece. For the longest time, it went by the name 'Wrong Turn'. A friend thought it might harm my chances of selling it, if I used the title that was foremost in my mind as I dreamed it up. I should have trusted my initial instinct. It was partly inspired by Rodin's epic sculpture of the same name

and by this dark, brooding piece of music, by the late, great Jerry Goldsmith. I don't want to explain away whatever mystery it holds, but I do suggest you listen to the first minute. It may convey some of what I wanted to achieve with this painting.
