Two Valaraukar, or Balrogs at Nírnaeth Arnoediad

Here's a recent bit of personal work.
In Tolkien's mythology, Arien, a fire spirit, was entrusted by the Valar, to steer the ship of the sun. Many of her brethren were drawn to Melkor, the first Dark Lord of Arda "in the days of his greatness, and remained in that allegiance, down into his darkness,"

He ensnared them, as he ever did, "with lies and treacherous gifts." I imagined these Valarauker, or Balrogs as being of both sexes. Here are two of them at Nírnaeth Arnoediad, the last and most sorrowful of the battles of Men and Elves against the Dark Lord.
